"Winning the Sallstrom Scholarship last spring was so special for me! It gave me confidence in my work as a philosophy student and made me feel seen and recognized by my professors. I chose to be a philosophy major in the pre-law concentration in order to build critical thinking, writing, and argumentative skills for law school. However, two years in, philosophy means so much more to me. I’ve learned so much about different topics, such as aesthetics, genocide, and environmental ethics, whilst developing my own views on the world around me. My classes in philosophy have given me the opportunity to engage with students of all different backgrounds and participate in conversations about complex issues of today’s world. The philosophy program at Georgia College has provided me with so many opportunities even outside the classroom: I recently had a paper accepted into the Georgia Philosophical Society’s annual conference! The knowledge I’ve gained in this program will not only aid me in law school, but in every aspect of my career and personal life moving forward."
